Set in a hyper-networked future, Ghost in the Shell follows Major Motoko Kusanagi, a cybernetically enhanced operative working for Section 9 — an elite government agency that handles cyber-crime and terrorism. As she hunts a mysterious hacker known as the Puppet Master, the Major begins to question the nature of her own existence: Is she more machine than human? Is the soul (or "ghost") still real in a fully digitized world?

Serial Experiments Lain is a psychological cyberpunk anime that dives deep into themes of reality, identity, and digital consciousness. The story follows Lain Iwakura, a quiet and introverted teenage girl whose life begins to unravel after she receives an email from a dead classmate. As she ventures further into the Wired (a futuristic version of the internet), the boundaries between the digital world and reality start to blur.
